Description: Native to North America, Echinacea (also known as Prairie Coneflower) is a beautiful, hardy, perennial ornamental commonly used as a medicinal. It is drought resistant and actually more often has trouble with too much water rather than too little. Echinacea is commonly used to enhance the immune system while Native Americans used it as a pain reliever.
Guidelines: Growing: A frost tolerant, winter hardy perennial wildflower. Plant seeds outdoor in flats or direct seed in the garden in fall or early spring. Seeds need to go through their natural freeze thaw cycle to germinate well. Alternatively, seeds can be rotated between the freezer and refrigerator for a few weeks before planting. May or may not flower the first season, but once established will thrive for many years.
