Site Selection

Snapdragon is an annual or short-lived perennial (Zones 5-7) that prefers full sun and well-drained soil high in organic matter.

Planting

Snapdragons are moderately frost tolerant and do best in cool weather. Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors just before the last frost. Optimum soil temperature for germination is 60-70˚F. Seeds will sprout in 10-14 days. Deadhead to extend flowering period.
