The classic cottage-garden blossom. Beautiful spires of bell-shaped flowers that range in color from white to pink and bloom in the second year after planting. Flowers grow up to 6′ and are especially attractive to bumblebees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. If the main stalk is cut, side shoots will form and bloom later into the season. Site Selection
Foxglove is a biennial that prefers full sun to partial shade and rich, moist soil with good drainage.
Cultivation
Direct seed outdoors in late spring or sow indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Optimal soil temperature for germination is 70°F. Sow seeds 1/16"'deep and 2-4" apart. Seeds will germinate in 5-10 days. Thin seedlings to 6-10" apart. If allowed to set seed, plants will return to your garden year after year.
