A favorite for its long bloom-time. This 4-5′ tall annual bears vibrant red-orange 2-3″ flowers with yellow centers. Direct seed in full sun and evenly moist soil. Loves hot, dry locations. Great for cutting. Flowers are attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. Summer to fall blooming. (0.3 Gram Packet)

If you’d like to attract butterflies and bees to your garden, plant Mexican Sunflower! These were very easy to grow, flourished (in spite of our neglecting them), and were beautiful well into the fall. Some of the plants grew almost 6′ tall, and all had a profusion of blooms. We planted these all through the garden and were pleased to be MOBBED with bees and butterflies. We will definitely be planting these again in 2016!

Love love love these flowers! Ours grew taller than 6 feet, looking like a small tree, and were just loaded with blooms. Each bloom hosted several pollinators! The orange color can’t be beat, very happy color! The stems are too weak for cutting, but that’s okay, they belong in the sunshine anyway. There is no such thing as enough tithonia in our garden!
