Pole Bean - Turkey Craw

Phaseolus vulgaris

HEIRLOOM -Grown for us in Greeneville, Tennessee by outstanding teenage gardener K. Johnson, this variety is stringless and has excellent flavor as a snap bean or a dry bean. In folklore, this variety was cultivated when a hunter shot a turkey and removed a bean from the craw. The bean was planted and saved, hence the name ‘Turkey Craw’. Approx. seeds per packet = 35 –The Turkey Craw bean is part of the Slow Foods Arc of Taste!
Pole beans are a space saving wonder for the compact garden. The long vines take advantage of vertical space and have a continual harvest throughout the growing season so they have higher yields per square foot than bush beans. For many people, the flavor is beyond compare as well.
