Garden Donation Program

Sow True Seed has had a long-standing charitable program, donating thousands of packets of seeds at the end of every growing season for the past 10 years. With all of the changes we’ve experienced as a business and as a community, we’ve also seen our donation program change.

In early 2022, we were very excited to announce the launch of our Sponsorship Program, which allows us to have close working relationships with a small handful of sponsees. Within this program we are able to support them not only financially, but logistically and physically as well. We were so ecstatic to see this program get off the ground and look forward to watching it grow.

Our donation program has not gone away but it has gone through some changes. In the past, this has been in the form of an application process that prioritizes local organizations and those that serve Black and Brown communities, and provides seed packets to those organizations. Moving forward, the focus will still be on local organizations and those serving Black and Brown communities but instead of receiving seed packets, chosen applicants will receive a gift card for a certain amount of money that can be used in our store or online. This gift card can be used to purchase any items we offer that may serve your organization. Maybe that’s still seed packets, or perhaps amendments or seed starting supplies. Maybe your organization will put it towards the purchase of a new tool!

Our hope is that this redesign will allow our donation recipients to have more flexibility, providing what they may need for their community gardens, whether that includes seeds or not.

Our program will run on a similar schedule to that of years past, collecting applications throughout the growing season until late November when we will select our applicants! Those chosen will receive a digital gift card to the email provided in the application in January.
