How to Grow Cleome from Seed

Bed Preparation

Cleome is an annual that prefers full sun to partial shade and rich, well-drained soil with moderate moisture.

Planting

Direct seed outdoors in early spring. You can also start inside 4 to 8 weeks before last frost date for a jump on the season. Optimum soil temperature for germination is 65-80˚F. Sow 1/2" deep and 3" apart. Seeds will sprout in 10-21 days. Thin so mature plants are 6-12" apart.
