ORGANIC. HEIRLOOM. The exceptionally sweet Ridgeway Cantaloupe was a national celebrity during the early 20th century, proudly served at fine dining establishments up and down the East coast. Its star fell with the advent of refrigerated trucks and cheaper melons from California, but its hometown of Ridgeway, NC still throws it a full-blown festival every year. Our strain came to us from Cherry Gal Seeds in Warrenton, NC. Very rare!
Direct seed or transplant into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Melons will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, melons will need at least an inch of water per week. Harvest when you can smell the sweetness through the skin of the melon. Annual.
