Daucus carota
HEIRLOOM. A lucky variety to be so well named! One of the sweetest carrots available, with a tender yet crisp texture, and impressive looks too, with 8- to 10-inch-long tapered, deep orange, coreless roots. It’s easy to see why this variety has been a favorite since its introduction in 1928. Those long, slender roots do require very loose soil to reach their full potential, so if your soil is clay or rocky, it may be best to grow these in a raised bed or container.
