Lupine is a perennial that prefers full sun and is tolerant of a wide variety of soils, including nutrient poor soils.

Cultivation

For best results, nick the hard seed coat (scarification) before planting. Direct sow outdoors in spring once the danger of frost has passed. Seed can also be started indoors 4-5 weeks before the last frost and transplanted outdoors after the last frost date. Sow seeds 1/2" deep and 3-4" apart. Seeds will sprout in 15-20 days. Thin seedlings so that mature plants are 18-24" apart.
