Bed Preparation

Clary sage is a biennial or short-lived perennial that prefers full sun and well-drained soil.

Planting

Clary sage can be direct seeded outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Optimal soil temperatures for germination are 65-85°F. Sow seeds 8-14" apart on the soil surface and press lightly to settle. Seeds will germinate in 10-15 days. Thin seedlings so mature plants are 24-36" apart.

Harvest

Harvest above ground parts while plant is in flower. Clary sage can be use fresh or dried in tinctures, ointments, etc.
