Indigo Seeds, Japanese Indigo - Sow True Seed

Indigo Seeds - Japanese Indigo

$4.25

Polygonum tinctorium

The preferred variety for dye. A tender annual, indigo thrives in fertile soil and likes heat and humidity. When the  plants have grown one to two feet tall and bruised leaves turn navy blue, they are ready for a first harvest. If you cut the stems several nodes up from the ground, they will re-sprout and you can harvest regrowth, perhaps several times more.

Start seeds indoors six to eight weeks before your last frost date. Soaking the seed for 24 hours increases germination success. Transplant outside after all danger of frost has passed. Indigo will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, indigo will need at least an inch of water per week. Typically grown for leaves. Annual.

0.5 gram packet contains a minimum of 130 seeds.
