Wheat Seeds - Appalachian White

$9.99

Triticum aestivum

Appalachian White wheat is a semi-dwarf variety with long awns that look stunning in the field. An exceptional wheat variety developed by North Carolina State University in 2009. Appalachian White wheat tastes slightly less bitter than red wheat, making it an appealing option for some bakers who want to use more whole wheat without the extra strong flavor and darker color.

Direct seed into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Wheat will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, wheat will need at about an inch of water per week. Allow grains to dry on the plant and harvest when firm. Annual.

Packet amount 1/2 lb. Minimum 5000 seeds per packet.

Seeding rate for grain crop production - 1/2 lb covers 250 square feet.
