The classic multi-purpose herb! Not only are the plants a lovely ornamental, you can use the dried flowers for arrangements, in aromatherapy applications, as a bug repellent, for culinary uses, and to make a potent essential oil. The plants grow to 12-20" tall and sport spikes of bluish-purple flowers.
Direct seed in early spring or transplant into the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Lavender benefits from cold stratification. It will need full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, lavender will need at least an inch of water per week. Typically grown for leaves and flowers. Perennial.
