Larkspur giant delphinium is an annual that tolerates full sun to partial shade and average, well-drained soils with moderate moisture.
Direct sow outdoors after the last frost date or start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Optimal soil temperature for germination is 65-85°F. Sow seeds 1/8" deep and 6-8" apart. Seeds will germinate in 10-16 days. Thin seedlings to 24" apart. Flower stalks may need staking. For a succession of blooms, sow seeds every 2-3 weeks.
Harvest cut flowers anytime during the flowering period. Delphinium will readily re-seed if a few flowers are left to mature.
