Chickweed Seed, ORGANIC - Sow True Seed

Chickweed Seeds

$3.95

Stellaria media

Tasty and easy to grow nearly everywhere! This strain is extra tender and flavorful. Has both culinary and medicinal applications.

Direct seed or transplant into the garden in early spring or late summer. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil but will tolerate a range of conditions. Chickweed requires light to germinate so gently press seeds into the soil without covering them. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, chickweed will appreciate at least an inch of water per week. Harvest at any stage of growth. If you leave the center growing point intact, more leaves will be produced. Annual.

When to Seed Chickweed

This annual herb should be direct seeded into the garden in early spring or transplanted once all danger of frost has passed.

Where to Plant Chickweed

This plant will appreciate a spot with full sun. Loose, well-draining soil is ideal but this plant will tolerate a wide range of growing conditions. It will also readily reseed year after year, so keep this in mind when choosing a planting location!

Growing Chickweed

Sow seeds on the surface of the soil and one inch apart. There is no need to thin this herb. When established, this herb is low maintenance.

Harvesting Chickweed

Chickweed foliage can be harvested and used like any other salad green. Leaving the growing tip intact will result in a cut-and-come-again harvest.
