When to Seed Anise Hyssop

Anise hyssop should be direct seeded outdoors in fall, or stratified indoors and sown in trays for transplanting after all danger of frost has passed.

Where to Plant Anise Hyssop

This plant will appreciate a spot with full sun. Loose, well-draining soil is ideal but this plant will tolerate an extremely wide range of growing conditions. This perennial bloom will come back year after year.

Growing Anise Hyssop

Sow seeds on the surface of the soil and two to four inches apart. Once germinated, thin your seedlings to 12 to 16 inches.

Harvesting Anise Hyssop

Anise hyssop leaves can be harvested with sharp shears and used fresh or dried. Regularly harvesting the flower spikes will result in a longer foliage harvest and bushier plants.
