Coreopsis Seeds - Lanceleaf

$3.95

Coreopsis lanceolata

Lanceleaf Coreopsis, also known as Lanceleaf Tickseed, is a hardy native wildflower found throughout much of the United States. Its golden blossoms appear in early summer, and will continue for several weeks if the plants are deadheaded. Many species of moths and native bees rely on coreopsis as a host plant, so this is a great addition to a pollinator garden or pocket meadow. Plants grow best in full sun. Requires stratification. Perennial.

When to Seed Lanceleaf Coreopsis

Lanceleaf Coreopsis should be direct seeded outdoors in fall, or stratified indoors and sown in trays for transplanting after all danger of frost has passed.

Where to Plant Lanceleaf Coreopsis

This plant will appreciate a spot with full sun. Loose, well-draining soil is ideal but this plant will tolerate an extremely wide range of growing conditions. This perennial bloom will come back year after year in mild climates and will readily reseed in others, so keep this in mind when choosing a location!

Growing Lanceleaf Coreopsis

Sow seeds ⅛ inch deep and six to eight inches apart. Once germinated, thin your seedlings to 12 to 16 inches. Once established, this plant is quite drought tolerant. Deadheading the flowers will result in more blooms for a longer period of time.

Harvesting Lanceleaf Coreopsis

This flower can be used as a cut flower, is also great for pollinators, and is a host plant to native bees and moths.
