When to Seed Flower Mixes

Flower mixes should be direct seeded outdoors in fall or early spring. This is because they require stratification in order to germinate. They can also be stratified indoors and planted outdoors in spring.

Where to Plant Flower Mixes

These plants will appreciate a spot with full sun, except the partial shade mix that will benefit from a shaded area. Loose, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter is ideal, but these mixes will tolerate a wide range of conditions. These mixes are a mix of annuals and perennials, so keep this in mind when choosing a location.

Growing Flower Mixes

Mix the seeds with a small amount of soil or sand and spread the mixture evenly over your planting site by broadcasting or using a rake. Lightly rake into the ground, covering the seeds with approximately a ¼ inch of soil.

Harvesting Flower Mixes

These mixes can be harvested for cut flowers, edible flowers, or left to add beauty to the landscape and support many birds, pollinators, and butterflies.
