When to Seed Snapdragons
This annual flower should be transplanted or direct seeded into the garden once all major danger of frost has passed. Unlike many other annuals, snapdragons prefer to germinate in cooler soils. They can be planted just before the last frost date.
Where to Plant Snapdragons
This flower will need full sun and will prefer loose, well-draining soil that is high in organic matter.
Growing Snapdragons
Sow seeds 1/16 inch deep and ½ inch apart. Once mature, thin to six to 12 inches apart. This is a pretty low-maintenance crop, but regularly deadheading will result in more flowers.
Harvesting Snapdragons
Snapdragons can be harvested for cut flowers or left to mature in the garden to benefit the many pollinator species that are attracted to it.
