When to Seed Columbine
Columbine should be direct seeded outdoors in fall, or stratified indoors and sown in trays for transplanting after all danger of frost has passed.
Where to Plant Columbine
This plant will appreciate a spot with full sun. Loose, well-draining soil is ideal but this plant will tolerate an extremely wide range of growing conditions. This perennial bloom will come back year after year and can reach one to two feet tall, so keep this in mind when choosing a location!
Growing Columbine
Sow seeds on the surface of the soil, two to four inches apart. Once germinated, thin your seedlings to 14 to 28 inches. Once established, this plant is quite drought tolerant.
Harvesting Columbine
Columbine is not typically harvested and is mainly grown as a beautiful addition to your landscaping. It attracts many hummingbirds and pollinators.
