When to Seed Nasturtium
This annual flower should be transplanted or direct seeded into the garden once all danger of frost has passed.
Where to Plant Nasturtium
This flower will need full sun and will prefer loose, well-draining soil, however, it is not super picky about its growing conditions.
Growing Nasturtium
Sow seeds ½ inch deep and four to six inches apart. This seed will benefit from scarification ahead of planting. Once mature, thin to 8 to 12 inches apart. This is a pretty low-maintenance crop, but regularly deadheading will result in more flowers.
Harvesting Nasturtium
Leaves and flowers can be harvested for a spicy addition to pestos, salads, and sandwiches. Leaving the growing tip intact will result in multiple harvests throughout the season.
