Learn More:
Hand Sown is a series of documentary-style short stories that we are working to produce in partnership with Parkway Studios and West Ashe Creative, alongside several supporting sponsors: Utopian Seed Project, Organic Growers School, North Asheville Tailgate Market, and Everyday Oil.
This episodic video series will tell human-centered stories of land stewardship in Western North Carolina. We will feature narratives rooted in our shared seed, landscape, and our gardens. Each episode will spotlight growers, seed savers, educators and community members whose stories are intertwined with the act of growing food, saving seed, and preserving our food heritage. You very well might see your own neighbor on there!
Anyone that knows Western North Carolina knows that it’s a special place and has so many stories to tell. These stories need to be featured now to raise awareness of the importance of regional food systems, food sovereignty, climate resilient agriculture, and to recenter where our attention lies: real stories about real people contributing to our foodscape for our collective wellbeing.
